PewDiePie vs. T-Series was a major online rivalry between YouTuber Felix Kjellberg (PewDiePie) and Indian record label T-Series for the most subscribed YouTube channel.

PewDiePie held the top spot from August 2013 to April 2019, while T-Series claimed it in June 2024.

The battle, starting in late 2018, saw leading YouTubers rally behind PewDiePie, with fans launching campaigns and even illegal activities.

PewDiePie's diss track "Bitch Lasagna" sparked backlash, and after the Christchurch shooting in 2019, he asked fans to stop.

Despite PewDiePie’s plea for followers to avoid illegal activities, some engaged in vandalism promoting 'subscribe to PewDiePie' memes.

In March 2019, the Brooklyn memorial was defaced with this message. PewDiePie condemned the act and donated to the park for repairs. Similarly, 'SUB 2 PewDiePie' was found on school property in Oxford, UK.

Tragically, during the Christchurch mosque shootings on March 15, 2019, the attacker mentioned 'subscribe to PewDiePie' during a livestream. In response, PewDiePie called for an end to the meme.

The competition between PewDiePie and T-Series gained attention in India due to controversial actions by PewDiePie and his followers. His diss track 'B*tch Lasagna' contained demeaning lyrics about Indians, causing anger. Followers escalated the situation with negative comments, dislikes, and anti-Indian remarks.

In response, many Indian YouTubers supported T-Series. Indian-Canadian comedian Jus Reign defended T-Series in November 2018, while others released diss tracks like Tatva K's 'PewDiePie,' Asif Bantaye's 'Pendubhai,' and CarryMinati's 'Bye PewDiePie,' which gained nearly 5 million views in 24 hours.

On December 14, 2018, YouTube removed inactive subscribers, affecting both PewDiePie and T-Series. T-Series lost around 220,000 subscribers, while PewDiePie lost 55,000.

Over time, the rivalry rumors faded from the internet.
